Houssam Chahin
Houssam has served as the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Private Sector Partnerships in the MENA Region since 2011. He is responsible for the development of private sector fundraising programs in the region and overlooks the development of UNHCR’s global Zakat initiative. Prior to joining UNHCR, Houssam worked with numerous nonprofit organizations such as Greenpeace and Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, specializing in advocacy, fundraising campaigns, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning.
Houssam’s specialties include fundraising, stakeholder and donor management, fundraising campaigns, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility, and linking Islamic philanthropy to international causes.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and another bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Birmingham City University. He is also certified in Fundraising Management from the Fundraising School at Indiana University.
